Pretoria – The Pretoria Regional Court has adjourned the Estina R37,7 million South African Revenue Service (SARS) customs tax fraud matter.

The court said the fraud matter will resume later this year on 20 November 2023.

A fifth state witness is expected to testify when the case resumes.

The accused in the matter include two associates of the Gupta brothers, Kamal Vasram and Saliesh Indurjeeth.

Vasram and Indurjeeth had already pleaded not guilty in March to the R37.7 million fraud case involving the failed Free State Estina project.

The suspects face charges of Fraud, Contravention of Customs and Excise Act no 91 of 1964, Contravention of Section 54(1)(A) of the International Trade Administration Act, and Contravention of Regulation 22 of the Exchange Control Act charges arising from a joint investigation by SARS and the Investigating Directorate.
