Mayflower – Three patrons were shot dead during an armed robbery at a tavern in Dundonald, near Mayflower outside Ermelo in Mpumalanga in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Four other people inside the tavern suffered gunshot wounds.
The revellers were having a “nice time” when armed robbers stormed into the tavern firing their guns randomly.
At least seven people were shot – three of them fatally.
Two people died on the scene, and a third died later at the local clinic.
The robbers stole valuables including cellphones from patrons.
They even stole the DJ’s equipment before they made off with the loot.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said four wounded persons were taken to the hospital.
“Police are looking for the three suspects who shot at seven people at a tavern this morning around 4am,” Mohlala said.
“The suspects also tried to access cash from the bartender but they failed.”
He said charges of murder, attempted murder, and business robbery were opened for further probe.
