KwaMhlanga – Police have launched a manhunt for three armed men after a 58-year-old female teacher was abducted from her home in Phola Park, near KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, on Thursday said teacher Rose Mahlangu’s body was found next to a road.
The body had a bullet wound.
Narrating events leading to the teacher’s murder, Colonel Mdhluli said armed men forced their way into her home on Monday night.
Teacher Mahlangu was not yet home, but her husband was there.
The armed intruders tied him up before they ransacked the house.
Colonel Mdhluli said amid the commotion, Mahlangu arrived in a Ford Everest SUV.
When she alighted from the SUV, the armed intruders forced her back into her car and drove away with her.
The armed intruders made off with two mobile phones belonging to the couple.
Colonel Mdhluli said: “The matter was reported to the police on the same night and the vehicle was then later recovered.
Colonel Mdhluli added: “Sadly, the following morning, the lifeless body of Ms. Mahlangu was found with a gunshot wound and dumped next to the road. She was unfortunately certified dead by paramedics.”
In a separate incident reported to the police, Colonel Mdhluli said a 37-year-old female teacher was attacked in her home and robbed.
“The armed suspects shot the female teacher in the leg and forced her to transfer an undisclosed amount in cash from her bank account. The suspects also took her cellphone and laptop,” Colonel Mdhluli said.
The violent attack occurred the same night teacher Mahlangu was abducted and murdered.
