Wakkerstroom – Police are looking for Themba Yende, who was the last person seen with a woman whose body was later found on Sunday in a house in Wakkerstroom, near Volksrust in Mpumalanga.
Police said the 29-year-old woman, identified as Thobile Mayisela, was strangled to death.
Mayisela had left her home on Waaihoek Farm the previous day to attend a funeral service in Driefontein.
The police said after the funeral service, Mayisela was seen walking around with Yende.
After her body was found, Yende was nowhere to be seen.
A murder case has since been opened, but police said the motive was unknown at this stage.
The police said they believe Yende may be able to assist them with information regarding the murder.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said Yende is from the nearby Sterkfontein Farm.
“A new development propelled police to search for Yende who has not been found yet in spite of several attempts to locate him,” Mdhluli said.
Anyone with information regarding Themba Yende’s whereabouts should call Detective Sergeant Nonhlanhla Khoza on 076 376 9430 or 08600 10111.
