Emalahleni (Witbank) – Police in Mpumalanga have recovered three stolen bakkies – a white Nissan NP300, a gold Toyota Hilux, and a silver Toyota Hilux belonging to the Department of Health.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said a 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stolen vehicles.

Brigadier Mohlala said police acted on a tip-off and swooped on a house in Emalahleni on Friday, where they found the cars.

Police described the recovered bakkies as:

  • a white Nissan NP300 which was stolen in Berea, Gauteng in March and
  • a gold Toyota Hilux which was also stolen from Bellville, Western Cape in July.
  • a silver Toyota Hilux belonging to the Department of Health which was stolen in Emalahleni in May.

The arrested suspect faces several charges including the possession of stolen vehicles and fraud.

He will appear in court next week.

Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela said: “We acknowledge with much appreciation the contribution made by those that provided the valuable information and the swift response which led to the breakthrough”.
