Carolina – A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of 27-year-old mine manager Zanele Zwane, who was shot dead just as she started her Toyota bakkie to leave home for work.
Zwane was shot in the chest through the passenger window and the gunman left the car idling on Thursday morning, (25 January 2024).
Police in Caroline immediately launched a manhunt for the gunman and they got a breakthrough on Saturday when they arrested a suspect.

The cold-blooded murder sent shock waves through Carolina – a small town that is the administration seat of the rural Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality.
Commenting on the arrest of a suspect, police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said: “The male suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Ms Zanele Zwane.
“This is a breakthrough by the team of investigators under the leadership of the Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela.”
The alleged shooter is expected to appear in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Monday, (28 January 2024).
