Durban – Head Coach Fani Shange on Friday named the South Africa National Beach Soccer team that will compete in the COSAFA Beach Tournament.
The tournament takes place in Durban, South Beach, from Sunday, 17 March 2024. The week-long tournament ends on Saturday, (23 March 2024).
Coach Shange included the following players in the SA team:

- Nduduzo Msane (Goal keeper)
- Lawrence Kingsley
- Siyabonga Mkhize
- Xolani Hlela
- Abongi Xude
- Prince Gumede
- Khethukuthula Sizwe Mkhize
- Sphelele Cele
- Kwazi Bhengu
- Ntuthuko Mbutho
- Sphelele Mngadi
- Skhwala Mahlaba
- Darold Fish
Coach Shange said South Africa’s first game will be against Malawi.
He said the primary goal was to make sure the team he selected puts in the effort and wins the game.
Coach Shange appealed to fans to come out and support the home side. He said fan support would motivate the team.
“Fans can expect a different game,” promised Coach Shange suggesting the team was ready to do well.
Head of the SA team and a member of the National Executive Committee, M. Zondi said the tournament was among the biggest for beach football.
The tournament features teams from Southern Africa.
Their mission is to promote beach football and increase participation in sports, and they are proud to serve as the hosts of the KwaZulu Natal tournament.
“As the chairperson of KwaZulu Natal SAFA, it is my responsibility to develop beach football in this specific sport,” Zondi said.
“We are fortunate that Mr. Masondo, who is also in charge of making sure KwaZulu-Natal SAFA is recognised on the professional side, hosts our organisation.”
