Mbombela (formerly Nelspruit) – Mandla Msibi, on Friday, said he has moved to challenge his three-year suspension from the African National Congress (ANC).
Earlier this week on Wednesday, the ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) announced that Msibi, the party’s Mpumalanga treasurer, had been found guilty of misconduct.
The PEC said Msibi was suspended from the party for his part in a plot to sabotage the ANC’s January 8 Statement, which serves as a declaration of the party’s programme for the year ahead.

However, on Friday, Msibi who is still the Mpumalanga Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC said through his spokesperson that he was challenging the sanction.
Spokesperson Fukie Uhuru Mofokeng said Msibi was “dissatisfied” with the findings against him.
The spokesperson said Msibi has initiated the process of appealing the guilty verdict reached by the ANC Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) on 9 April 2024.
Mofokeng said after studying the PDC ruling, Msibi has resolved to challenge the findings.
With general elections set for next month, on 29 May 2024, it remains to be seen what the ANC will do.
