Pietermaritzburg – A female car driver, in her 30s, has died in a head-on collision with a minibus taxi along the R603 in Eston just outside Pietermaritzburg, in KwaZulu-Natal.
The collision, in which another person suffered moderate injuries, occurred Tuesday morning.
ALS Paramedics said they responded to the call for help at “6 am this morning”.
On arrival at the crash scene, ALS Paramedics said they established that a minibus taxi and a car had collided head-on.
The taxi lost control and left the roadway.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that unfortunately the vehicle driver a female in her 30s had sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing they could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene,” said ALS Paramedics.
“One passenger in the taxi had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene by ALS Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Hospital for further care.”
The dead woman has not yet been named.
SA Police Service officers were in attendance.
