Limpopo – Popular musician Shebeshxt was involved in a horror car crash on Saturday evening in which his nine-year-old daughter died.
Shebeshxt, whose real name is Katlego Letlhogonolo Chauke – was on his way to a concert in Lebowakgomo, about 45 km from Polokwane, when his VW Polo hatchback collided with a truck.
The tragedy occurred along the R37 road, outside Smelter’s Mine in Limpopo.
Sadly, the musician’s daughter lost her life, while he was injured and taken to hospital, where he was said to be recovering.
It emerged on Sunday that the musician had been booked to perform at an African National Congress “Siyanqoba Rally”.
It was the second car crash that Chauke had been involved in this year.
Earlier this year in January Chauke was hospitalised after crashing his car just outside of Polokwane.
At the time Chauke posted a worrying message on Instagram saying that people were plotting to have him killed.
However, the cause of the latest collision has not yet been established.
Limpopo Department of Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene confirmed the collision occurred on Saturday at 22:20, next to Smelters Mine.
She also indicated that the police were still investigating.
There has been an outpouring of grief on social media from Chauke’s colleagues, fans, and friends.
