Johannesburg – South African men’s 4x100m relay team of Bayanda Walaza, Shaun Maswanganyi, Bradley Nkoana, and Akani Simbine won silver in the Paris Olympics Friday night.
The South Africans set an African Record of 37.57 seconds and celebrated their silver medals with a shooting stance similar to Yusuf Dikec, the Turkish shooter, who became an internet sensation after winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics without using the most sophisticated gear.
Canada’s Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brendon Rodney, and Andre De Grasse won the gold.
Bronze went to Great Britain.
Favourites, the U.S., were disqualified after crossing the finish line in seventh place.
The Americans were disqualified for running out of the zone because Christian Coleman passed the baton outside of the handoff zone.
