Durban – At least 18 people – mostly children on their way to school – were hurt Friday morning when their minibus taxi was involved in a collision along Hans Dettman Highway, near Wingen Walk, Durban.
ALS Paramedics said the crash occurred just after 06:35.
When paramedics arrived on the scene they found several injured children in distress – some were crying.
“Immediately more Ambulances and Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist at the multiple casualty scene,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
“Once triaged it was ascertained that a total of eighteen people had been injured.
“Once stabilised on the scene all of the injured including both drivers were transported by various Ambulances to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.”
Police were on the scene.
