Johannesburg – Janet Jackson is no longer coming to South Africa to perform at the DStv Delicious Festival following the death of her brother Tito Jackson.

Reports suggest that 70-year-old Tito likely suffered a heart attack while he was driving.

Tito’s sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll said in a statement shared to Instagram on Sunday, (15 September 2024): “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us.

“We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being.”

Tito was a member of “The Jackson 5” alongside his siblings Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, who died in 2009.

Youngest sibling, Janet Jackson, who was scheduled to perform in Johannesburg at the DStv Delicious Festival on Saturday, (22 September 2024), will not be able to do so.

Organisers of the festival announced on X, formerly Twitter, that: “Janet Jackson will no longer perform at the DStv Delicious Festival as scheduled”.

“It is with heartfelt understanding that we announce Janet Jackson will no longer be able to headline the DStv Delicious Festival Powered by Lottostar due to pressing family commitments following the recent passing of her brother, Tito Jackson.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to her and the Jackson family during this incredibly painful time.”
