Johannesburg – British national Michael Lomas, accused of siphoning more than a billion rand from Eskom through dodgy contracts, has been brought back to South Africa to face fraud and corruption charges.
Lomas was extradited from the UK and brought to South Africa under heavy British police guard.

He was first arrested in South Africa in 2021 and released on bail.
The elderly Lomas, who fled South Africa while on bail, arrived at OR Tambo International Airport Friday morning in a wheelchair, where he was met by a huge contingent of law enforcers and taken into custody.
He was expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court later today.
Lomas is part of those accused of defrauding Eskom of R745m that was paid to Tubular Construction Projects, where he was the chairman.
The massive tender fraud and graft are linked to the construction of the mega coal-fired Kusile Power Station.
The dodgy tenders exposed the power utility to costs of R1.4bn as per the escalation of the contract.
In 2019 three other accused – then Tubular Construction CEO Tony Trindade and two former Eskom senior executives, Abram Masango and France Hlakudi appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on the same fraud matter.
