Arson Attack: 23 Buses Set Alight In North West, Public Asked To Help Police Catch Culprits

ARSON ATTACK: At least 23 buses valued at about R69 million were set alight in the North West

Rustenburg – At least 23 buses valued at about R69 million were set alight and completely burnt in two separate arson attacks outside Rustenburg in North West.

The buses belonging to Bojanala Bus were set alight in the early hours of Tuesday, (1 October 2024).

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said the buses were torched in Chaneng and Tlaseng.

“It is alleged that six buses at the Bojanala Bus Depot at Chaneng and a further 17 buses at Tlaseng were set on fire,” she said, adding that the buses have a combined value of value of about R69 million.

“The buses burnt to ashes,” said Colonel Myburgh.

Anonymous tip-offs can be communicated via the MySAPS App from your smartphone.

Colonel  Myburgh said cases of malicious damage to property have been opened for investigation.
