White River – Fugitive 30-year-old Ashwell Claremond Isaac, who was wanted for a murder in Cape Town, has been arrested and hauled before the White River Magistrate’s Court.
Isaac was arrested by the Hawks during a swoop conducted on Sunday, (27 October 2024), at Mbonisweni, Kabokweni Trust in Mpumalanga.
He appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on Monday, (28 October 2024), for murder and was remanded in custody.
Isaac allegedly killed a person in Cape Town in August, earlier this year, before fleeing to Mpumalanga.
An arrest warrant was issued for the fugitive, who was eventually found and arrested by the Hawks at his hideout.
The murder accused will next appear before the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, (5 November 2024).
The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Gerber commended the effort of the team after apprehending the fugitive.
The General further warned the Hawks in Mpumalanga will trace, arrest, and “bring to book all perpetrators who think they can hide without fear or favour”.
Major General Gerber added: “We serve the citizens of this beautiful country irrespective of which province needs our assistance”.
