Durban – The woman, who was run over by an out-of-control minibus taxi along Clare Road, near Burnwood Road, Durban, has died.
Commenting on the Monday morning, (25 November 2024), tragedy, ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the crash occurred around 07:30.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find carnage as they found that a single taxi had somehow lost control and left the roadway striking a pedestrian walking on the pavement before hitting a light pole,” said Jamieson.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that the pedestrian was still entrapped under the taxi and immediately the Ethekweni Fire Department was called to assist.
“Unfortunately the pedestrian a female believed to be in her late 30s had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for her and she was declared deceased on the scene.”
Jamieson said one other passenger inside the minibus taxi sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene by an ambulance crew.
He said at this stage the events leading up to the crash were unknown, however, SA Police Service officers were in attendance.
