Johannesburg – A 25-year-old Brazilian national has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport for drug trafficking after over three kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of R1,8 million was found wrapped around his body.
On Sunday, (24 November 2024), police operationalised intelligence and arrested a 25-year-old Brazilian national at OR Tambo International Airport for drug trafficking.
The contraband found wrapped around his body was later confirmed to be cocaine.
The 25-year-old had just landed from São Paulo, Brazil, when he was arrested by alert authorities at OR Tambo International Airport.
He will soon appear in court.
In recent months the number of drug mules busted by law enforcers at the international airport has significantly increased.
In one incident a drug mule, who had ingested pellets containing the drug, developed health complications after he was arrested and had to be rushed to hospital.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk warned: “The South African Police Service continues to deal decisively with those trafficking drugs into the country”.
