Johannesburg – Music icon Winnie Khumalo has died at 51 reportedly after a short illness.
A statement announcing the sad news on Tuesday, (7 January 2025), said: “It is with great sadness that Kalwa Jazmee Records confirms the passing of Winnie Khumalo.”
The statement, which did not mention the cause of death, added: “A true icon, Winnie Khumalo made a remarkable contribution to the South African music scene, inspiring many with her powerful voice and unforgettable performances”.
However, media reports said the singer died after a short illness.
The statement continued: “Her passion, talent, and dedication to her craft have left an indelible mark in the industry and the hearts of her fans.
“We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
“Rest in peace Winnne Khumalo.”
