Siyabuswa – Mpumalanga Police are questioning a man thought to be the boyfriend of murdered 31-year-old Mbali Mahlangu whose body was found in her home with stab wounds.
It was the 2nd of February 2025 when Mahlangu’s mother noticed her bedroom was locked and there was no response from inside.
She used a spare key, opened the door, and to her shock and horror found her half-naked daughter lying in a pool of blood.
Mahlangu was dead. She had suffered a brutal assault.
Commenting on the murder at the weekend, Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said a man was being questioned by the police.
“A man believed to be a boyfriend of the deceased was being questioned by the police in connection with the death of the girlfriend,” Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane said.
“The police in Siyabuswa are investigating a murder case after a woman’s body was discovered inside her room.
“There was a pool of blood, and the victim was lying down half naked, only wearing a T-shirt facing upwards.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim had multiple visible injuries on her body.
“Possibilities are that she could have been stabbed with a sharp object.”
Mahlangu’s grief-stricken family said she will be laid to rest in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga, today, Sunday, (9 February 2025).
