Koedoespoort – Police have found a bag containing more than 300 pieces of ammunition, magazines, and explosives, that were hidden in a yard in Koedoespoort near Vaalbank, Mpumalanga.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said the weapons cache was found on Monday, (17 February 2025).
Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane said the police received a tip-off and rushed to the identified scene.
“Police officers immediately went to the scene and it was upon their arrival that they found a bag hidden underneath some woods,” Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane said.
“When checking inside the bag, the men and women in blue came across about 341 [pieces of] ammunition for a shotgun, as well as about 11 empty magazines for 9 mm pistol.”
Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane said the police also found a magazine for a rifle, explosives, and an explosive booster.
“Though there was no one found in the yard when members were at the premises, the investigation is underway to get hold of the suspects thereof,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ndubane.
“For now, no one has been made as yet. An inquiry has been opened for further investigation.”
