Johannesburg – Popular television host Xolani Khumalo, who has had a murder charge withdrawn against him, is coming back to host Sizok’thola, the anti-illicit drugs show that landed him in trouble.
The popular presenter who has always professed his innocence had been facing a murder charge related to the death of a suspected drug dealer.
This week, the National Prosecuting Authority provisionally withdrew the murder charge against Khumalo nearly two years after the incident.
It was in July 2023 when Khumalo and his production team were involved in a confrontation in Katlehong with alleged drug dealer Robert “Kicks” Varrie.
The alleged drug dealer died after being interrogated during the filming of a Sizok’thola episode.
Varrie was declared dead at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital in Vosloorus, leading to Khumalo being accused of murder.
With the murder charges withdrawn, Khumalo is returning to his Moja LOVE television job as the host for Sizok’thola Season 4.
“I am grateful to be back at Moja LOVE, a place that is home to me,” Khumalo said.
“I have had an opportunity to reflect, and I look forward to reconnecting with the amazing viewers and showcasing my talent to Mzansi.”
Moja LOVE’s head of the Channel Livhuwani Dagada confirmed the return of the popular host.
“Xolani is known for his authentic and on-air engaging presence, and we have seen how he has built a strong connection with viewers nationwide,” Dagada said.
The head of the channel said Khumalo’s return will strengthen Sizok’thola’s efforts to raise awareness of the drug problem and its devastating effects on communities.
Khumalo’s return is expected to “bring the heat” on drug dealers through Sizok’thola, which combats crime and fights the scourge of illicit drugs in communities.
