Johannesburg – There is still no sign of missing journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli who were reported missing more than two months ago.
Ndlovu, a committee member of the National Press Club and the founder of Capital Live SA FM 99.0 FM, and his partner have been missing since 18 February 2025.
“It is disappointing and frustrating that up until this point there’s no information regarding the whereabouts of Sibusiso and Zodwa,” said Elijah Mhlanga, chairperson of the African Media and Communicators Forum on Wednesday, (30 April 2025).
“It’s been more than 72 days, and the families continue to search for their loved ones.”
A reward of R50 000 has been offered for “good quality information” to assist the police in finding the missing couple.
However, no headway has been reported in the search.
“The police are investigating, but it feels like the progress is slow, especially when checked against the tears of the mother who has not been able to sleep since 18 February 2025,” Mhlanga said.
“We were hoping that the reward of R50 000 would serve as an incentive for information to help the police, but up until now, there’s no notable progress.
“We remain hopeful that they will be found alive and that, sometime in the future, the details will emerge regarding their mysterious disappearance. “
In previous updates, investigations revealed no activity in the couple’s bank accounts.
Last month, a private investigator told reporters at a briefing that Ndlovu’s salary paid into his bank remained untouched.
The recent police success in tracing three missing constables in just six days has raised hopes that Ndlovu and his partner can be found.
“We appreciate that the police have been able to conclude the investigation involving the missing police officers from Free State,” Mhlanga said.
“At the present moment, it is tempting to want to expect the same kind of action on the matter involving Ndlovu, a journalist and founder of Capital Live FM, a community radio station based in Mamelodi.”
Gauteng Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo has confirmed that Ndlovu and his partner, Mdluli, were reported missing and a search had been launched.
A private investigator, working pro bono, has since done some work, which includes searching hospitals, mortuaries, hotels, and other places of interest.
Up to now, there are no leads.
Masondo urged the public to contact police immediately if they have any information regarding the whereabouts of Ndlovu or Mdhluli.
