London – India has launched missile strikes into Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in what the Modi regime said were surgical attacks targeting terrorist infrastructure.
The situation between India and Pakistan has become more volatile since the Pahalgam attack two weeks ago, in which 26 tourists were killed by suspected rebels in Indian-administered Kashmir.
India accuses neighboring Pakistan of being behind the deadly attack, which it describes as terrorism.
Pakistan has denied any involvement.
Overnight reports said Indian forces attacked Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir with missiles in several locations.
The Indian government said its forces have launched “Operation Sindoor,” hitting terrorist infrastructure.
Reports from India said the missiles fired under “Operation Sindoor” have so far killed a child and a woman, and injured a man.
Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, said India has carried out “cowardly” attacks on five locations.
However, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s military said Islamabad “will respond to this at a time and place of its choosing.”
Pakistan claims eight people were killed in the attacks and two Indian jets were shot down.
UN secretary-Genera Antiónio Guterres is very concerned about the Indian military operations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, his spokesperson said.
This latest action adds to a long list of military conflicts between the nuclear-armed countries.
The situation between India and Pakistan remains volatile.
