Pietermaritzburg – Two teenagers have lost their young lives in a horror car crash along the N3 Pietermaritzburg-bound, near Market Road, KwaZulu-Natal.
ALS Paramedics responded to calls for help just after noon on Sunday, 15 June 2025.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find carnage as a single vehicle with three occupants had somehow lost control and rolled numerous times, coming to rest on its roof,” spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said.
“Two teenage boys had sustained major injuries.
“One of the teenagers had passed away before the paramedics’ arrival and was declared deceased on the scene.
Jamieson said the second teenager had sustained critical injuries and was stabilised on scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being rushed to a nearby Hospital for the urgent care that he required.
“Unfortunately, a short while after arriving at the hospital he too passed away,” said Jamieson.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
He said at this stage, the events leading up to the crash were unknown; however, the police were at the scene.

In another car crash on Sunday, 15 June 2025, a female believed to be in her 20s sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle accident on the M19, near Otto Volek Road in Pinetown.
Jamieson said the car crash occurred just after 16:00.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services, ER24 Paramedics, and Mobiclaw Medics responded to calls for help.
On arrival at the crash scene, Jamieson said the paramedics were told that the woman’s car overturned multiple times coming to rest on its roof up the embankment.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that one person, a female believed to be in her 20s had sustained critical injuries,” said Jamieson.
“Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the woman on the scene before placing her on a manual ventilator.
“Once stabilised the Air Mercy Medical Helicopter was activated to rapidly transport the woman to a nearby Durban Hospital.”
Jamieson said two other people who were in the vehicle when it crashed sustained serious injuries.
The injured pair were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban Hospital.
The M19 freeway was closed while the Air Mercy Helicopter landed for the vehicle recovery.
