Cape Town – Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has revealed that Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) experienced a “brief interruption” in aircraft refuelling operations.

ACSA said the interruption this morning, Saturday, 19 July 2025, occurred after a fuel valve fault was identified during a routine quality test conducted by the airport’s fuel service provider.

“As a safety precaution, fuelling was temporarily suspended while the affected section was isolated. Refuelling resumed shortly thereafter, and ACSA can confirm that operations have largely returned to normal,” ACSA said in a statement made available to The Bulrushes.

“The majority of stands are now fully operational, with no significant disruptions expected for the remainder of the day.

“A total of seven flights experienced minor delays, amounting to 54 minutes in total.”

ACSA said the technical teams remain on site to monitor the situation and finalise repairs.

“The safety of our passengers and staff remains our highest priority,” ACSA said.

“We continue to work closely with all relevant partners to ensure a smooth recovery and to minimise any further operational impact.

“We thank our airline partners and passengers for their patience and understanding.”
