Johannesburg – Putco has announced that it is deploying nearly 300 buses to move thousands of worshippers to the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) gathering in Moria, Limpopo.

“Departures are scheduled for the early hours of Saturday, 6 September 2025, from Gauteng and Mpumalanga, with the safe return journey scheduled for Sunday, 7 September 2025,” said Putco spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu.

On Friday, 5 September 2025, Xulu said Putco was preparing to deliver a safe, smooth, and accident-free large-scale transport operation this upcoming weekend.

“The operation is expected to transport close to 18 000 congregants,” Xulu said.

“At the core of this operation is Putco’s state-of-the-art Monitoring Control Centre (MCC), which is the company’s digital command hub.”

Xulu explained that the MCC tracks every bus in real time through advanced GPS technology and on-board CCTV systems, enabling continuous oversight of the fleet.

“This digital monitoring system provides immediate alerts, seamless coordination, and rapid response capabilities, ensuring that any unusual road situation is addressed swiftly to maintain the highest levels of passenger safety,” stated Xulu.

“This task comes at the back of Putco’s flagship Easter weekend operation earlier in April, where we successfully dispatched nearly 500 buses in one of the country’s largest coordinated passenger transport undertakings.”

Xulu noted that the milestone was completed without incident, demonstrating the effectiveness of Putco’s MCC-driven oversight and its commitment to passenger safety.

“Building on that achievement, this weekend’s deployment reinforces the company’s readiness to once again execute an accident-free operation at scale,” Xulu said.

“Only Putco’s upgraded Mercedes-Benz buses will be dispatched for this weekend’s journey, offering passengers modern comfort, enhanced safety, and reliability, all under the watchful digital eye of the MCC.”

Meanwhile, the ZCC warned that, for reasons of public safety, during the conference period, all forms of informal trading or vending and parking of motor vehicles will be strictly prohibited along the R71 between Polokwane and Tzaneen in front of the Zion Christian church headquarters in Moria City, starting from Matshelapata in Mentz to Mphogodiba.

In a statement made available to The Bulrushes, the ZCC urged families to provide supervision for young children and, if possible, avoid travel during high-risk periods such as late at night.

“We extend a heartfelt appeal to all members of the ZCC traveling to and from Moria, visitors, and the general public to observe road safety protocols at all times.”

The Consecration of the ZCC New Year conference began on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, and will conclude next week, on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.
