Mbombela (formerly Nelspruit) – The Mpumalanga Department of Education is conducting extra classes for Grade 12 learners ahead of the final National Senior Certificate Examination.
The five-day holiday classes will take place at designated venues across the province, running from 6 to 10 October 2025.
Mpumalanga Education MEC Lindi Masina said the extra classes will accommodate 159 schools that scored less than 80% in the 2024 National Senior Certificate Examination.
She said 19 688 learners were expected to benefit from the holiday classes ahead of the 4th term of school, which begins on 13 October 2025.
MEC Masina revealed that the education department selected “best-performing” teachers to assist learners during the holiday classes to learn difficult curriculum content.
The teachers will also provide guidance on effective examination techniques.
“In 2024, Mpumalanga achieved an impressive 84.99% pass rate, and through these interventions, the department is determined to raise the bar even higher in 2025,” MEC Masina said.
“We call on everyone in the province to play their part in supporting the class of 2025.
“Let us create conditions that place Mpumalanga firmly on a path of success.”
MEC Masina appealed to the candidates to remain focused on their studies and have full confidence in their success, as their future is in their hands.
“To our learners, every hour of preparation counts,” she said.
“Stay focused, remain disciplined, and do not allow anything to distract you from your goals.
“You carry our hopes, and we believe in your ability to excel.”
The National Senior Certificate Examinations begin later this month on 23 October 2025.
