Johannesburg – Witness C in the Madlanga Commission has revealed that police are still looking for Lucky Molefe in connection with the murder of Armand Swart, an employee at Q-Tech Engineering.
The 30-year-old engineer was shot multiple times on 17 April 2024 while seated in his vehicle outside his workplace in Vereeniging, Gauteng.
Police investigations indicate that the murder was linked to a Transnet Freight Rail tender scandal.
Transnet buyer, Molefe, allegedly manipulated the awarding of a multimillion-rand contract to SK Group, a company linked to him and his family.
Allegations were that SK Group sourced metal springs from Q-Tech for R3.90 each and resold them to Transnet for R151.
The massive inflation was flagged by a Q-Tech whistleblower.
Subsequently, on 12 April 2024, Transnet investigators probing the matter confronted Molefe and demanded the related tender documents.
Allegations are that the Transnet employee sought help from his uncle, Santon businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe, who allegedly orchestrated the hit on Swart – mistakenly identified as the whistleblower – in a cruel bid to stop the tender probe.
However, businessman Katiso KT Molefe was arrested for allegedly masterminding Swart’s murder along with the alleged hitmen.
Molefe was released on Bail of R100 000 by the high court, before he was again nabbed in connection with other murders of DJ Sumbody and his bodyguards.
He has since been released on R400 000 bail while awaiting trial in both matters.
However, police have not been able to locate the Sandton businessman’s nephew, Lucky Molefe, who disappeared the day his uncle was arrested.
Police are now asking the public to help find the fugitive.
“We are still searching and looking for Mr. Molefe,” Witness C told the Madlanga Commission on Friday, 24 October 2025.
