ANC Wins 2 By-Elections In Limpopo And Mpumalanga

Johannesburg – The African National Congress (ANC) has retained its seats in by-elections held in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces, the Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced.

The by-elections were held on Wednesday, 5 November 2025.

The IEC announced that in the Limpopo by-election, the ANC candidate Motubatse Zacharza Ngake emerged victorious in Ward 37, Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality.

“The party [ANC] retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 71,29% of the total votes cast, compared to 57.18% in the 2021 Municipal Elections,” the IEC said.

“Voter turnout was 57.61%.”

In the Mpumalanga by-election, the IEC said ANC candidate Fana Jeremia Nzimande won Ward 14 in the Govan Mbeki Municipality.

“The party [ANC] retained the seat it won in the 2021 Municipal Elections, with 43.78% of the total votes cast, compared to 47.91% in the 2021 Municipal Elections,” the IEC said.

“Voter turnout was 41.82%.”
