Polokwane – A popular 30-year-old musician has been arrested in connection with two counts of attempted murder.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, said the police in Limpopo arrested the musician during an intelligence-driven operation conducted in the upmarket suburb of Bendor, outside Polokwane.

The musician, who was not named, was arrested on Wednesday morning at about 09:30.

“The arrest was executed through a joint operation between the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team following the issuance of a warrant of arrest linked to a case of two counts of attempted murder registered at Westernburg SAPS [South African Police Service],” said Colonel Ledwaba.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 19 October 2025, along Witklip Street in Ladanna, outside Polokwane.

“It is alleged that the suspect had a confrontation with another motorist, during which he fired several shots at another vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old male occupant, who was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries,” the police spokesperson said.

“The case was initially opened at Westernburg SAPS and later transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit for further investigation.

“Detectives successfully obtained a warrant of arrest on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, leading to the suspect’s apprehension.

“During the operation, police also seized the suspect’s vehicles for forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations.”

Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the investigation and operational teams for their meticulous work and swift action.

“We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

“The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing.”

The suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court, Limpopo, tomorrow, Thursday, 13 November 2025, on charges of attempted murder.
