LIV Golf South Africa Tournament At Steyn City Golf Estate: JMPD Unveils Traffic Plan

Johannesburg – The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has unveiled traffic management measures for the upcoming LIV Golf South Africa tournament at Steyn City Golf Estate.

The highly anticipated event will take place from 18 to 22 March 2026, between 07h00 and 21h00.

The JMPD said that with an expected daily attendance of 25 000 people, significant traffic congestion was anticipated in the Fourways and Midrand areas.

1. CRITICAL PARKING ADVISORY: NO ON-SITE PARKING

* No Public Parking: There will be no general public parking available on-site at Steyn City.

PRIVATE VEHICLES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED AT THE VENUE

* Strict Enforcement:

Parking is strictly prohibited on the roads along Cedar Road and Winnie Mandela Drive.

* Obstructions: Vehicles causing obstructions or parked illegally will face JMPD enforcement actions.

* Recommendation: All spectators are strongly advised to utilise the official Park-and-Ride services to avoid congestion and parking issues.

2. PARK-AND-RIDE SERVICES LIV

Golf has collaborated with Park-and-Ride SA and Gautrain to provide daily transportation for attendees.

A temporary on-site “Station” with clear signage will facilitate passenger movement.

Buses will depart every 60 minutes between 08h00 and 20h00 from the following hubs:

* Montecasino (Primary Hub)

* Clearwater Mall

* Melrose Arch

* Mall of Africa

* Menlyn Park Shopping Centre

* Sandton City / Nelson Mandela Square

* Greenstone Mall The last Park-and-Ride bus will depart the venue at 20h30 each day.

3. ROAD CLOSURES & ACCESS

* Full Road Closure: A complete closure will be in effect at the intersection of Cedar Road and Runnymead Avenue.

* Permitted Access: Only residents with valid permits will be allowed to pass through the closure points.

* Dedicated Bus Lanes: Temporary dedicated bus lanes will be established along Winnie Mandela Drive and Mnandi Drive, Cedar Road and Runnymead Avenue to ensure shuttle efficiency.

* E-Hailing (Uber/Bolt): A designated safe drop-off and pick-up zone is located at the venue.

* JMPD Radio Room: 011 375 5911 / 011 375 5918 / 0800 002 587 Motorists not attending the event are advised to use alternative routes such as the N1, N14, R511 (Winnie Mandela Drive), or Witkoppen Road to avoid possible delays within the Steyn City precinct.
