They are expected to appear in court.
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, Xola Nqola, emphasised that the committee maintains a firm stance on the supremacy of the rule of law, institutional integrity, and accountability at all levels of the criminal justice system.
“The committee has consistently maintained that no individual, regardless of their position or former office within the security and justice cluster, is above the law,” the Chairperson said.
“Accountability and public trust are the foundational pillars of our constitutional democracy.
“When allegations of criminal conduct or obstruction of justice emerge against those entrusted with upholding the law, it is vital that our law enforcement and judicial institutions are allowed to do their work thoroughly, independently, and without fear or favour.”
The committee noted that the charges against Advocate Johnson and her co-accused are expected to be formally heard in the Pretoria Magistrates Court.
Nqola stressed that while the principle of presumption of innocence applies to all accused persons, the gravity of the charges underscores the critical importance of absolute integrity within key state institutions.
The committee will continue to monitor developments surrounding the case closely as it unfolds through the judicial process.
