Polokwane – Shocked family members have found the body of their female relative wrapped in a blanket and stuffed down a pit toilet.
Commenting on the grim discovery, police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the body of a 40-year-old woman was found in a pit toilet at Ha-Lambani Mahagala yesterday, Sunday 19 July 2026.
Police in Tshaulu, Limpopo, are now investigating a case of murder.
“It is alleged that the body of the deceased woman was discovered at about 11:40 inside a pit toilet at her home, covered with a blanket,” Colonel Ledwaba said.
“Family members alerted the community.
“Police and Emergency Medical Services personnel were summoned to the scene, where the body was retrieved from the pit toilet.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had sustained injuries to the face and head.”
A suspect, who has been linked to the murder, is now being sought by the police.
Detectives went to the suspect’s residence, but he was not there.
A case of murder has been opened.
Colonel Ledwaba said efforts to trace and apprehend the suspect were continuing.
