Moscow – The capital’s public transportation system traditionally participates in events marking Victory Day.

This year, a series of commemorative and themed activities has been prepared for passengers in the Moscow Metro and at other public transportation facilities.

In honor of the holiday, Moscow public transportation employees will distribute more than 8 000 St. George ribbons—one of the main symbols of Victory.

They will be available at the Live Communication kiosks in the metro, at the Northern and Southern River Terminals, as well as at street parking lots and special parking areas operated by Moscow Parking and on select routes of the city’s surface transit system.

Special attention has been paid to the decoration of the infrastructure.

The Trubnaya station has been decorated for Victory Day for the third year in a row: the ceiling vault is adorned with St. George’s ribbons and decorative elements dedicated to this memorable date.

The thematic design creates a festive atmosphere for passengers and serves as a reminder of the significance of this historic event.

In addition, a themed train dedicated to Victory Day has begun running on Line 3.

Its design features orange, red, and blue tones, symbolizing the courage and unity of the people.

The train cars feature themed elements and phrases dedicated to the Great Victory.

The train will run on the line until June 22.

“The capital’s transportation system participates in Victory Day events every year,” noted Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

“This year, our employees will be handing out St. George’s ribbons at various transportation infrastructure sites.

“We are also continuing the tradition of decorating stations and launching themed trains to preserve the memory of our people’s heroic deeds and create a special atmosphere for passengers.”

Security will be stepped up on public transportation during the holiday events.

Passengers are asked to be understanding of the additional security measures, to remain vigilant, and to follow the rules for using public transportation.

Victory Day, observed annually on May 9, is one of the most significant national holidays in Russia, commemorating the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in 1945 during World War II.

This day marks the official end of what is known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War, a period of immense struggle, sacrifice, and resilience
