Cape Town – Land Bank has announced its participation in the upcoming NAMPO Cape 2026, at Bredasdorp Park, in the Western Cape, under the theme “Together We Grow”.

The four-day NAMPO Cape 2026 takes place from Wednesday, 9 September 2026.

The Bank said it sees its participation as an opportunity to highlight that “South Africa’s agricultural resilience depends on collaboration across the entire value chain”.

With the Western Cape recently experiencing severe climate-related challenges, including flooding, crop damage and infrastructure strain, the need for shared solutions has never been more urgent.

“Agriculture is facing pressures that no single organisation can solve alone,” said Land Bank Acting CEO Jabu Mphambo, emphasising that the sector cannot afford to work in silos.

“Growth, resilience and sustainability require farmers, financiers, agribusinesses, commodity organisations, government and industry partners to work together towards a common goal.”

Collaboration as a driver of resilience

The Western Cape’s recent weather volatility has emphasised to farming communities the importance of coordinated support.

Mphambo notes that partnership-driven approaches are essential for helping farmers manage risk and adapt to increasingly unpredictable conditions.

“Climate change is reshaping the way we think about agricultural risk. When stakeholders collaborate, sharing data, expertise, market access and financial tools, farmers are better equipped to withstand shocks and recover more quickly,” explained Mphambo.

Land Bank’s development finance mandate positions it as a key enabler of such collaboration.

By working with commodity groups, agribusinesses, insurers and government, the bank aims to strengthen farming enterprises and ensure that emerging, smallholder and commercial farmers alike have access to appropriate finance and support.

Shared solutions for emerging challenges

The agricultural sector continues to face rising input costs, infrastructure constraints, market volatility and climate-related risks.

Partnerships, Mphambo argued, are central to addressing these challenges.

“When organisations pool resources and align their efforts, we create opportunities that individual players cannot unlock on their own,” he said.

“Partnerships help farmers access markets, adopt new technologies, improve productivity and build long-term resilience,” he says.

Land Bank said its collaborative initiatives, from blended finance programmes to market access partnerships and risk mitigation solutions, demonstrate how shared interventions can strengthen the sector.

The bank said these efforts reflect its commitment to supporting sustainable growth while ensuring that farmers have the tools they need to navigate an increasingly complex operating environment.

Facilitating meaningful conversations at NAMPO Cape

Land Bank announced that it will host a series of focused lunchtime conversations at NAMPO Cape, each designed to spark practical dialogue and strengthen collective action across the value chain.

Mphambo emphasised that these engagements are intended to drive real impact.

“NAMPO Cape gives us a platform to listen, learn and collaborate. Our engagements are designed to spark meaningful conversations that lead to real partnerships and real impact,” he said.
