FLOODED STREETS: A motorist takes chances to cross a flooded street in Northcliff, Johannesburg
SHARE

Heavy rains and hailstorms lashed parts of Johannesburg Monday afternoon raising fears of flooding in low-lying areas.

The Gauteng Weather Service said some parts of Johannesburg were experiencing hailstorms.

Poor drainage in some suburbs – including Randburg and Northcliff, saw some motorists opting to park on the side of the roads as huge amounts of water collected into huge pools along the streets.

Other motorists opted to take chances diving through high water levels.

The deluge lasted for about half an hour before there was a lull.

Tree branches, leaves, and hailstones added to the hazards on the roads.
