Johannesburg – WhatsApp is down in South Africa and other parts of the world.
Reports, on Tuesday midmorning, from as far afield as India suggest that the popular free to download messaging app is down, but no official explanation has yet been given.
Users report that a message saying “connecting” is on display, but there is no further access.
US tech giant Meta confirmed a global outage was affecting its messaging service WhatsApp.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” a Meta spokesman reportedly told AFP.
