FIRED: Coach Kaitano Tembo has been let go by Sekhukhune United FC

Johannesburg – A string of poor results –  just two wins in 12 games – has prompted Sekhukune United FC to show coach Kaitano Tembo the door.

Sekhukhune said Tuesday that the club wishes to announce that it has “‘parted ways” with coach Tembo “with immediate effect”.

Club CEO Jonas Malatji thanked Tembo saying: “Ever the professional that he is and his impeccable work ethic, the decision to part ways was an extremely difficult one.

“Sport in general and football, in particular, is result driven, and this remains true to the club that finds itself in a very precarious position in the DSTV Premiership.”

Accepting the inevitble, Tembo said: “I wish to thank the players for their dedication, the support of the technical team and support staff and wish the club and its supporters the very best.”

Tembo joined the club from SuperSport, where spent 23 years as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

He left SuperSport in December 2021 and joined Sekhukhune in June, this year, when he replaced Owen Da Gama.

Sekhukhune are at the wrong end of the log – second from bottom with 11 points from 12 games. The Limpopo team only managed only two wins, drew five games and lost as many games.
