Johannesburg – South African National Defence Force members will be deployed at some Eskom power stations, reports eNCA.
Quoting the Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya, eNCA is reporting that the move was in response to several incidents of theft and sabotage at various power stations.
South Africa is in the grip of severe electricity shortages that have seen Eskom plunge the country into Stage 6 load-shedding, which means some areas are going for up to 10 hours a day without power.
Commenting on the deployment, Eskom said it can confirm that the SANDF was deployed this Saturday afternoon at Majuba, Camden, Grootvlei, and Tutuka power stations.
