Real Madrid emerged victorious Saturday night in a hard-fought 2023 Copa del Rey Final in which Rodrygo’s brace was enough to overcome a determined Osasuna side 2-1.

It was the 20th time Real Madrid lifted the Copa del Rey Cup.

From the beginning of the first half, Vini Jr tormented Osasuna fullbacks with his mazy runs and trickery on the ball.

One of his early runs resulted in a deflection that fell to Rodrygo who put the ball in the net with just two minutes of play in the first half.

With one eye on Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester City, Real Madrid played within themselves and only went a gear up when Osasuna equalised through Lucas Torro 58′.

Buoyed by the goal Osasuna began pressing Real Madrid and seemed to be gaining the upper hand.

However, against the run of play, Rodrygo scored his second goal in the 70th minute to put Real Madrid back in front and it stayed that way till the end.

Real Madrid starting XI: Courtois, Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Camavinga, Kroos, Tchouameni, Valverde, Rodrygo, Vinicius, Benzema.

Osasuna starting XI: Herrera, Peña, Hernandez, Cruz, Sanchez, Muñoz, Moncayola, Oroz, Barza, Garcia, Gomez.
