Mbombela (Nelspruit) – Armed highway robbers have struck again – the second time in four days – in Mpumalanga.
Brazen thugs on Thursday evening ambushed a cash-in-transit armoured vehicle along the N4, near the Kanyamazane turn-off.
With military precision, the armed gang of thieves used explosives to blast open the armoured vehicle, before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Emer-G-Med said just before 18:00, on Thursday, paramedics, together with multiple emergency service agencies, responded to the scene of cash in transit heist.
“No injuries were reported,” said Emer-G-Med
“Reports from the scene are that an armoured vehicle was bombed by an unknown number of armed suspects before they fled the scene.”
No arrests have yet been made, but the SA Police Service is investigating.
Earlier this week on Monday, a 15-man armed gang pounced on a cash-in-transit armoured vehicle along Legogota Road in KaNyamazane, near Mbombela.
Two Fidelity guards were left nursing gunshot wounds.
The money was stolen and no arrests were made.
