Johannesburg – Zimbabwes Ambassador At Large, Uebert Angel, named by Al Jazeera as part of the Gold Mafia, has been stripped of his Pan African Parliament Ambassadorship.
Uebert Angel, who doubles as a “prosperity Gospel” preacher, was earlier this year in July unprocedurally appointed as the African Unions Pan African Parliament (PAP) Ambassador for Interfaith Dialogue and Humanitarian Affairs.
However, at the weekend the 2nd Vice President & Acting President of the PAP Dr. Gayo Asherbiri – from Ethiopia – reversed the appointment.
In a letter to “Prophet Hubert Angel” dated Sunday 28 August 2023, seen by The Bulrushes, Dr. Asherbiri said: “We note that your name was announced recently as having been appointed as an ambassador for the Pan African Parliament”.
Dr. Asherbiri added: “Nearly all current members of the PAP wondered how the appointment was done as it was not tabled in any bureau of plenary meeting stating reasons of the appointment and likely benefits to PAP or Africa in General.
“I am mandated by the current bureau and members of PAP to advise the prophet (ueber Angel) that the said appointment is hereby revoked.
“The purported ambassadorial PAP has been declared null and void with immediate effect.”
Uebert Angel was been appointed Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large by Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2021.
Uebert Angel, who denies any wrongdoing in the Al Jazeera gold mafia exposé, was appointed PAP Ambassador by his Zimbabwe countryman Chief Fortune Charumbira, the outgoing PAP Chair.
In April this year, Chief Charumbira – the Zimbabwe Council of Chiefs president and PAP chair – was accused of indecent assault charges after he allegedly made some unwelcome sexual advances towards his 27-year-old niece.
A docket was been opened at Masvingo Central Police, with the initial report recorded under RRB 5457646 on Saturday.
The Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary exposed looting, plunder, and money laundering, a two-year probe on corruption and money laundering in Zimbabwe involving gold and senior government officials and their cronies.
Uebert Angel the leader of the Spirit Embassy Church was secretly filmed bragging that he could move $1.2 billion in cash in and out of Zimbabwe easily due to his diplomatic immunity.
However, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwes Financial Intelligence Unit probed the matter and cleared Uebert Angel of any wrongdoing as suggested by the Al Jazeera documentary
