REVELLERS' JOY: Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town is re-opening on Friday

Cape Town – The popular Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town, which temporarily closed over an ownership dispute that erupted after one of the owners – DJ Sumbody passed away, is reopening on Friday.

Announcing the development on Monday, the family of the slain DJ said: “In a landmark legal settlement, luxury entertainment establishment Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town, has returned to its rightful owners, the family of the late DJ Sumbody (Oupa John Sefoka)”.

MURDERED: DJ Sumbody (Oupa John Sefoka) was gunned down in the early hours of 20 November 2022. His driver was also shot dead.

The late DJ’s family added: “This victorious moment follows the sale of the DJ’s former business partner, Kagiso Setsetse’s stake in the business, marking a significant step towards restoring the establishment to its former glory.”

In recent months, the establishment has been at the centre of a highly publicised dispute, with Setsetse.

The Sefoka family said it has now secured a 50% ownership stake in Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town.

“Preserving my brother’s legacy has been at the heart of our relentless pursuit of justice,” said Koketso Sefoka, the Sefoka family’s spokesperson.

“Ayepyep isn’t just a venue; it’s a living tribute to his passion, creativity, and dedication to the vibrant culture of Cape Town’s social scene.

“As Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town returns to our family after a lengthy battle, we’re inviting patrons to join us in honouring and celebrating my brother’s vision and legacy.”

Sefoka said as one of the most sought-after destinations for sun lovers and revellers from around the globe, Cape Town’s electric summer party scene will welcome the popular spot back into the fold.

Sefoka said patrons should expect vibrant and luxurious sun-kissed sensory experiences, including an elite musical line-up, gorgeous gourmet culinary selections, exceptional service, and a vivacious vibe for the discerning city revellers.

The re-opening of Ayepyep Lifestyle Cape Town will feature performances by Vetkoek vs. Mahoota, Ms. Cosmo, Kyeezi, Murumba Pitch, and many more.

“The Sefoka family extends their gratitude to all the patrons of the establishment and supporters who stood by the family during these challenging times,” said the family spokesperson.

Sefoka said as the family’s quest for justice continues, Ayepyep Lifestyle Menlyn and The Secret Door stand as the next chapters in their mission to reclaim what forms part of preserving the positive legacy of the late DJ Sumbody.
