Pretoria – The University of South Africa (UNISA) is not going to be placed under Administration – for now.

The notice in the Government Gazette announcing the placing of UNISA under Administration has been withdrawn.

Announcing the move on Friday in a terse statement, Higher Education, Science and Innovation Minister, Dr. Blade Nzimande, said he has, “withdrawn the Government Notice No. 4015 published in Government Gazette No. 49582 Vol 700 on 27 October 2023, that announced the decision to appoint an Administrator for the University of South Africa”.

Meanwhile, the Department of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, has announced that Dr. Nzimande will be participating in the European Union Hydrogen Week to be held from 20 to 24 November 2023 in Brussels – Belgium.

In 2021, the European Union in partnership with other countries announced a new ambitious, long-term Just Energy Transition Partnership to support South Africa’s decarbonisation efforts.

The Partnership aims to accelerate the decarbonisation of South Africa’s economy, with a focus on the electricity system, to help it achieve the ambitious goals set out in its updated Nationally Determined Contribution emissions goals.
