EXTENDING DEADLINE: Home Affairs Minister Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi has announced the extension of the closing date for the submission of public comments on the White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection

Johannesburg – The Minister of Home Affairs Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi has announced the extension of the closing date for the submission of public comments on the White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration and Refugee Protection from 19 January 2024 to 31 January 2024. 

The announcement is contained in Gazette No 49976, published on Monday, (8 January 2024). 

The Department of Home Affairs said it has received substantial public comments. 

“The extension of the closing date follows requests received from various organisations and individuals for additional time due to the December holidays,” the Department said. 

The White Paper, together with the explanatory memorandum, can be downloaded on our website (www.dha.gov.za). 

The department said written submissions should be addressed to the Chief Director: Strategy and Institutional Performance and maybe forwarded to the Department in any of the following manners: 

  • (a) delivered by hand to the Department of Home Affairs, 230 Johannes Ramokhoase Street, Hallmark Building, Pretoria for attention of Mr Sihle Mthiyane; 
  • (b) mailed to the Department at Private Bag X114, Pretoria, 0001; or 
  • (c) emailed to whitepaper@dha.gov.za.
