Pretoria – The City of Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department will temporarily shut down the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant on Monday, (3 March 2025).

The plant will be shut down to install a new valve on the Ekandustria Reservoir system, said the City of Tshwane.

“The maintenance work which is scheduled for nine hours from 08h00 until 17h00 will be monitored closely from the start until completion,” the City of Tshwane said.

The following areas in Region 7 will be affected:

  • Bronkhorstspruit Town
  • Ekandustria
  • Ekangala
  • Rethabiseng
  • Riamarpark
  • Zithobeni
  • Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (cross-border water supply)

In a statement announcing the shut down which was issued on Friday, (28 February 2025), the City of Tshwane apologised “profusely for the delay in water supply restoration to the mentioned areas”.

The City of Tshwane said roaming water tankers will be arranged to supply the affected residents with water.
