Johannesburg – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos on Thursday, 2 October 2025, announced his squad for the final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda later this month.
FIFA has docked South Africa three points for fielding an ineligible midfielder, Teboho Mokoena, in their World Cup qualifier against Lesotho, handing their neighbours a 3-0 victory.
The sanction drops Bafana into second place in Group C, level on points with Benin.
Bafana Bafana will next face Zimbabwe at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 10 October 2025, followed by a clash against Rwanda at the Mbombela Stadium on 14 October 2025.
South Africa is now under pressure to win the remaining two games to qualify for next year’s FIFA World Cup jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
