Nkomazi – The 48-year-old Sipho Ngomane, accused of fatally stabbing his 43-year-old police officer wife, Joyce Vuyisile Ngomane, during a heated argument, has appeared briefly in Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga, Mpumalanga.

However, the matter was adjourned on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.

Allegations are that a week ago, Ngomane stabbed his wife at their home in Ntunda, near Tonga.

The slain 43-year-old police sergeant was laid to rest on Sunday, 7 December 2025.

Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane said: “The accused is remanded in custody as the state is opposing his release on bail”.

She added: “The matter is postponed for his legal representative to receive instruction in preparation for a formal bail application.”

The accused’s next court appearance has been scheduled for next Monday, 15 December 2025.
