South African beauty Zozibini Tunzi has handed over her Miss Universe crown in style to the new queen of the pageant – Mexico’s Andrea Meza.

“I’m reminded every day that my journey wasn’t just mine alone,” Zozibini said at the weekend.

The handover took place on Sunday at the 69th Miss Universe pageant at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida in the US.

“Thank you for welcoming me into your hearts & walking side by side with me on this important chapter of my life. Once again,” said Zozibini.

“May every child who witnessed this moment believe in the absolute power of their dreams.”

Andrea Meza, 26, finished first ahead of the Brazilian and Peruvian finalists. The televised event was hosted by American actor Mario Lopez and television personality Olivia Culpo.

Meza beat more than 70 contestants from around the globe.
